New year, new challenge!

Holidays are over and I am trying to get back into the swing of things (pun intended, read on). I spent my Christmas in USA with my chocoholic family and there was chocolate, ice cream, cakes and cookies EVERYWHERE! Now, I tried to stay on a healthy path, but I must admit that I strayed a little. As one should during Christmas. As they say: It's not what you eat between Christmas and New Years that matters, but what you eat between New Years and Christmas....

Anyway, at least I got a few workouts in. I picked out a few from BODYROCK.TV. They have great short intense workouts that you can do at home. I miss Zuzana (look at the older workouts), but their workouts are still good.

Since we got back home and we are in the new year, I have tried to focus on healthy eating and getting my workouts in. I am doing the 10.000 swing challenge again this year. Not too late to join! Read about it on Facebook. On Sunday I did a 1000 rep kettlebell challenge that my trainer made for the holidays. Wow, it kicked my butt! It includes 200 single hand swings (one arm change), 200 snatches (one arm change), 40 burpees, then 50 push ups and 10 chin ups! AND MORE! I am still so sore from this, you won't believe it.

Yesterday I joined my mom for a bodyweight only class, but I felt it was almost a waste of time as my body was aching so much I couldn't really exercise. Anyway, today I had my own kettlebell class and this is what we did:

Warm up with joint mobility

30 sec swings
30 sec mountain climbers
repeat
30 sec break then repeat twice

30 sec one arm swing left
30 sec one arm swing right
30 sec hand to hand swing
repeat no break

1 min snatch left
1 min snatch right
1 min break
repeat

30 sec clean left
30 sec front squat left
30 sec clean right
30 sec front squat right
1 min break
repeat

1 min lunge combo* left
1 min unge combo right
1 min break
repeat

*lunge combo: kbell rack position, lunge forward same side as kbell, lunge backward opposite side, curtsy lunge opposite side

30 sec contra lateral deadlift left
30 sec contra lateral deadlift right
repeat no break

5 windmill each side

stretch!

Now try that one at home!

I haven't done many of my swings unfortunately.  608 swings of 10.000. But I still have 28 days to go. I'll do it. Tomorrow is a much needed rest day and then on Thursday I am planning to try a new gym and a new routine! Lifting weights this time!  Wish me luck!!
